Pod Pop Up: Squid Jigging with the WA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife

Our last Pod Pop-Up of 2023 will be hosted in Des Moines, and we’ll be joined by some partners at the WA State Department of Fish and Wildlife to catch some squid! We’ll have loaner fishing gear available for use and bright lights to attract squid to the pier. Bring a coat and something to take your squid home with you. This series is dedicated to creating and nurturing intergenerational connections to water. Pod Pop-Up days are open to BIPOC community members of all ages 12+. Please no children under age 12.

What to Expect:

  • Free fishing gear to borrow & educational talk by WA State Dept. of Fish and Wildlife
  • Snacks included!
  • Transportation support available

We offer hands-on outdoor experiences for older youth who are considering their future employment and educational opportunities.


Community Programs
